My family moved to Nevada in 1987, looking for a less crowded environment in which to raise our children. We found the year round recreation in the area to be one of our favorite past times. We also spent a lot of time with the various animals on our small ranch and participating in sports and arts. Junior rodeo, little league, 4-H, softball, Reno Irish Dance company, NV Junior Opera, and Arttown are some of the organizations we have been involved with, along with many area schools from private to public. I even spent some time home schooling. I started and ran a school art program for 12 years.
The ranch environment shaped my life in Reno early on. I became very active in the Master Gardener program through the UNR Cooperative Extension. The Cooperative Extension had a Small Ranch Management program which incorporated animal science, waste management, water quality, weed management and the Living with Fire program and I worked in all of the programs, designing composting bins, drawing landscape plans for the Firescape demonstration garden and founding the first “Tomato Taste-off” for the Cooperative Extension. I was “the Tomato Lady” of the Reno Gazette Journal for a time. I grew heirloom tomatoes for the wholesale market before it was “a thing”. Experimentation in my Reno garden and friends and relatives gardens lead to the formation of my own landscape design company. Expanding upon my creativity in landscape, I became involved in real estate investment and remodeling. I have personally bought, sold and remodeled over a dozen homes and commercial buildings. These include large, ranch-style homes, several vintage homes and office buildings, contemporary homes and condos. I have owned and operated three vacation rentals in South Lake Tahoe and Sierra County- Downieville.
My entrance into real estate sales as a realtor is fairly recent; however, my experience in the field of real estate is over 30 years old. I have a vast knowledge of Northern Nevada, well beyond Reno and I do have a special affinity with ranch and horse properties. Since, I have owned horses and livestock and have practical knowledge of ranch properties I can provide my clients with the benefits of this experience. But, I am not limited to that. My background in construction, remodeling and landscaping often proves useful with my clients in suburban and city centered properties.
I’m all about “getting my hands dirty” whether it be helping a client spruce up their interior and exterior in preparation for listing their home, helping with a move, keeping a “listed” home fresh during showings, researching and previewing homes before showing them or delivering new flowers as a house warming gift. Forming personal relationships and “over the top” customer service are keys to my success.
